Holly Carter is the Executive Director of NeW. She first became involved with NeW in 2006, when she started the University of Florida chapter of NeW. During her time as president, she hosted the National Founder, Karin Agness, to speak at a campus-wide event during Women’s History Month and grew her chapter into one of the most successful NeW chapters. In 2008, she received the “Chapter of the Year Award” for her club’s success at the University of Florida. Holly spoke at the 2008 and 2009 NeW National Conferences. She is a regular contributor to the NeW Blog. Holly’s conservative leadership experience extends beyond her work with NeW. She participated in The Heritage Foundation’s summer internship in 2008. Working in the Coalition Relations Department, Holly’s passion for conservative public policy, grassroots mobilization, and coalition building grew. Since her internship, she has spoken at the 2008 Eagle Forum Collegians Summit and participated on a panel at CPAC 2009. Besides running NeW as an undergrad, Holly was the 2008 Hospitality Chair of Dance Marathon, helping to raise over $400,000 for Children’s Miracle Network. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida and completed an undergraduate thesis on the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment in Florida, keeping in tune with her passion for conservative victories on the grassroots.
She recently married her college sweetheart, George, and they are now residing
in Lexington, KY where he attends medical school. Karin Agness is the Founder and President of NeW. She founded NeW at the University of Virginia and has expanded it nationally. Karin has debated on CSPAN’s The Washington Journal and appeared on national shows, such as CNN’s American Morning, the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, the Rick Sanchez Show and the Laura Ingraham Radio Show.
Karin graduated with distinction in May, 2006 from the University
of Virginia, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated from the
University of Virginia School of Law in May, 2009 and is an attorney in Washington, D.C.
Jessica Custer is the North Carolina
State Chair for the Network of enlightened Women. Jessica joined NeW in
2006 at the University of Florida where she served as Vice-President of her
campus chapter.
Currently, she is a Policy Analyst for
the John W. Pope Civitas Institute where she covers public policy issues
affecting the family, women and state residents. She is a regular writer
for the Civitas Capital Connection, Civitas Review and Civitas Review Online,
Weblog. She is a participant in the Charles G. Koch Associate Program, a
year-long talent development program devoted to a liberty-based society and
global human freedom.
As North Carolina State Chair, Jessica
has appeared on Pajamas TV, Talk Radio and Talk of the State with news coverage
by National Review, Instapundit, First Things and Hot Air. She meets
regularly with NeW Chapters in North Carolina. Jessica is also a regular
contributor to the NeW blog. Jessica graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida where she completed a degree in Political Science and History. She is a 2006 United States Congressional Fellow and 2005 Laureate Scholar. She resides in Raleigh, North Carolina and is engaged to an Army pilot currently deployed overseas.
Rachel Kopec, Media Intern
Rachel Kopec is the Media Intern for NeW and a student at the University of Florida. She joined NeW in 2007 and currently serves as the president of the UF chapter.
Rachel is a public relations and political science dual major graduating in May 2011 from UF, where she is a leader in Campus Crusade for Christ and Alpha PRoductions, a student-run PR firm. She has gained media experience from participating in an internship with the public information office of the sheriff’s department in her hometown of Ocala, Florida. Her public relations experience ranges from traditional media to social networking. Rachel is a regular contributor to the NeW blog.
